We live in a sensitive world right now. Many feels as if life won't return to normal. We need to protect ourselves both physically and mentally. It is just as important to take time to stay mentally fit and healthy. My heart goes out to everyone that's going through difficulty right now. I wanted to share a few things that have helped me throughout the past few weeks to calm anxieties and keep myself mentally well.
1. keeping a planner
This has truly been my savior. At times I wake up in the morning not motivated to work one bit, but by keeping a planner and writing all my tasks and goals down, I suddenly feel like my tasks are tangible and that if I just begin, I will be able to get things accomplished. You can keep a planner physically on a piece of paper or on a bought planner. You can also use Google Calendar as a great option to keep everything organized. By being able to easily access tasks and deadlines, you'll find yourself being much more productive! 2. Avoid negative stories on the news
Yes, it's definitely important to stay informed on the world around us and stay updated with the news, but... if you're dealing with stress and anxiety on the day to day, your mental health is more important than watching the news. It's important to keep in mind that not everything you read or watch on the news is accurate and some things can be blown out of proportion. Even if the news is reporting the reality, at some point you have to admit to yourself that little good can be done by gaining anxiety.
3. Public service and kindness
When feeling anxiety, turn to what brings the ultimate sense of happiness--a good deed. If you are in the position and circumstance to do so, I would highly recommend doing an active service. This can be anything from starting your own service organization to just showing kindness to those around us. Tell someone how much you appreciate them. Make face shields to send to doctors. Drop off food for those in service or in need. Do what you can, and I guarantee the feeling of joy you get from these deeds will start to overshadow the darkness cast from the anxieties.
Times are tough. It's normal to feel anxiety and stress. Take a deep breath, and make sure you are protecting your mental health as well as you physical health because it is just as important. We're here for you!
